this one is almost pearly
think of a tigers eye stone,
it is a little like that.
and a bit brighter than the photos show.
the scoop is deep and oval.
the color rich and interesting.
the grain is amazing,
wobbly in places
and perfect in others.
there are horizontal ribbons that stretch from
one side to the other.
my father told me that,
the ribbons form
as the tree follows the sun
from east to west.
isn't that amazing.
the deepness of the wood,
reminds me a little of the dark
wood you can imagine in a
well kept low lit home library.
you know the type i mean,
from the late 1800s
with dark wood furniture,
and tall tall ladders.
it's really that lovely.
just under 16 cm in length,
so smooth and soft
and hand carved from beginning to end.
